Objective:

The objective of the course is to provide an insight into the business of innovation, and specifically, how this ties into the transformation of a corporation through their strategic aspirations.

Description:

Innovation is a word that’s widely bandied around in business circles today but depending on the context, what it actually means, can be interpreted in a number of different ways.
The course covers the following topics: 

  • Introduction to corporate innovation. 
  • How to define an innovation strategy: digital workplace, information automation & sensing, culture ­ sharing experiences in working globally, plus, European vs. US vs. Japanese (and other) mind-sets.
  • Innovation toolbox ­ what is it, including examples of: business context map, innovation maturity model, building a digital workplace business, small tips & techniques on running an engagement at:
  • Operational level
  • Transformational level
  •  Strategic level
  • Innovation Radar 

Intended learning outcomes:

After successfully completing the course, students:

  • Know the difference between business and technology innovation;
  • Understand the engagement model on defining a digital workplace;
  • Apply learning on how to measure the maturity of innovation within an organization;
  • Appreciate the importance of diversity and culture when creating an effective innovation team;
  • Be able to explore the methodology of taking a business idea through the commercialization;
  • Realize the benefits of corporates focusing on partnerships, and with a focus on start-ups.
