Alumni Dinner with the Estonian Minister of Finance, Mr. Jürgen Ligi

The Estonian Business School Alumni Dinner 2011 took place on January 25th. In the Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia banquet hall, EBS management and its founder and Chairman of EBS Supervisory Board, Mr Madis Habakuk, as well as the alumni, master and doctoral level students got together and discussed current educational, business, economic and political issues.

The event was opened by EBS Rector Peeter Kross’ welcoming speech. He presented to the participants greetings for a Happy and Successful New Year from EBS alumni all over the world. A short summary of the main achievements of 2010 followed, and the Rector mentioned that 2011 would be equally challenging and eventful. The heart of the event was the discussion between the Alumni Dinner"s guests of honour, the Estonian Minister of Finance Mr. Jürgen Ligi, and TV and radio journalist Mr. Märt Treier. Due to the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the majority of the questions were related to the forces that will shape the future Estonian political landscape as well as their impacts on businesses and the Estonian economy, as a whole, in the pursuit of growth.

During the gathering, people involved had the chance to enjoy good food prepared by top Estonian chefs and refresh and strengthen relations with their course mates and lecturers. In addition, a survey was carried out to find out how EBS could bring together business leaders and ERASMUS students who bring with them practice and expertise from foreign companies.

At the end of the dinner, Peep Aaviksoo, the Chairman of EBS Alumni Fund, called for alumni to take an initiative and start collecting donations for scholarships for talented EBS students without financial means. It did not matter, he said, how small your contribution was: if we all acted together, small sums could add up to a big total! Your helping hand would be very welcome! The bank account number of EBS Vilistlasfond in Swedbank is: 221011244906.
