Different Fairs, Similar Success - EBS Visits to Finland and Germany

Studia-saksa
In late November and early December, the EBS teams had the opportunity to experience two very different educational and career fairs, each with its unique story of success. In Finland EBS participated in Studia fair for the 10th time. We also visited Germany as first-time participants in master's and bachelor's degree fairs organised by border concepts in Hamburg.

Studia, Finland’s largest study and career event, took place this year on 28th and 29th November in Helsinki. This year, Studia focused on a broad spectrum of further education choices for secondary school students and expanded its reach to cover also lifelong learning and training. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about current educational trends, engage in conversations with school representatives, and discover new pathways for their future. The 2023 event witnessed a remarkable attendance of 13,400 visitors.

Our team consisted of Karoliina Korhonen, Study Consultant, Sheila Süda, International Relations Project Manager, and Maria Kottsova, Bachelor's Programmes Consultant who showcased the advantages and programmes of EBS. Our students from Finland also joined us for the fair and shared their impressions regarding student life and studies at EBS.

Sheila Süda commented on EBS's long-standing participation in the fair, which spans over a decade. "It was heartwarming to once again be part of an event where we are always welcomed," she said. "This is an excellent opportunity to introduce EBS to young people interested in higher education, who have gathered from all over Finland. EBS has historically strong ties with Finland – a significant number of Finnish students are enrolled in our university in Tallinn." She highlighted that the most popular programme among Finnish students is the International Business Administration bachelor programme.”

As first-time visitors on "Bachelor and More" and "Master and More" fairs in Germany we had an amazing opportunity to meet many ambitious young people. The fairs were held in Hamburg on 1st and 2nd of December. Students were mostly interested in learning more about EBS, studies in Estonia, and our start-up ecosystem.

At these fairs we had a unique opportunity to directly connect with potential students. During one-to-one discussions we emphasised how important it is to choose the right study programme. We were happy to see that interest in entrepreneurship and business studies at the fairs was high. Representing EBS were Liina Reimann, Head of Student Experience & Admission, and Jim Seltenrijch, Head of Master's Studies.

This year, the fairs divided the bachelor's and master's presentations over two days. EBS stood out stood out as the only Estonian university among Europe's elite institutions. We see significant potential in the German market, having had positive experiences with applicants from there. Given the valuable experience we had at the fair, we plan to return to Germany in April, this time visiting Nuremberg and Düsseldorf.

Jim Seltenrijch reflected positively on the experience as there was unexpectedly high interest in studying in Estonia, a country recognised for its innovation, digital success, and cultural openness. EBS's offerings received a warm reception, and there were numerous engaging discussions with young people interested in pursuing bachelor's and master's studies in business.

This encouraging experience at the fairs shows Estonia's growing appeal as a destination for higher education.
