Jukka Veikko Mäkinen, PhD is a professor in Business Ethics in the Estonian Business School, Department of Marketing and Communication. He has been teaching academic courses on business ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, argumentation and philosophy of social sciences in Finland and in other European countries and worked as a visiting scholar in different universities such as Sciences Po Lille, Audencia Business School, University of Amsterdam Business School, and Stanford University. Since 2019, Mäkinen is working as a visiting scholar at Harvard University.
Professor Mäkinen approaches the political and socio-economic roles of businesses in a society from the perspective of the contemporary theories of social justice. His research has appeared in journals such as Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Global Ethics, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Management and Organization Review, and Utilitas. Mäkinen has co-edited books and written several chapters to books on globalization, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and political theory.
