We are glad to announce that Jukka Veikko Mäkinen, EBS Professor of Business Ethics, has been chosen to the Editorial Board of Business Ethics Quarterly – one of the leading journals in Business Ethics, published by Cambrige University Press.  

EBS tennis players participated in the PCU PIUTT tennis tournament in Rome from 29th to 30th October, where they managed to achieve good results in both the women’s and the men’s tournament.

Various studies show that the contribution of foreign students to the Estonian economy is growing year by year. The Study in Estonia seminar, which took place in the EBS Hall on November 3, connected the academic world, the field of tourism, and economic development, focusing on the role of foreign students in Estonian society. EBS visiting professor Jeff Jarvis, whose research focuses on international students and their impact on economy as well as sustainable tourism, gave a comprehensive presentation.

On October 19, the expert group of the European Commission presented the final report of the study „Investing in our future: quality investment in education and training“. The report was presented in Brussels after more than 1.5 years of intensive research. Estonia was represented in the expert group by EBS professor in economics, Kaire Põder. 

On September 21, the traditional EBS golf tournament EBS Habakuk International 2022 took place. „The day was cheerful, and the weather favoured the competition,” the happy participants said. „Teammates were exceptional, I made so many new and interesting contacts!” 

Last week Introweek for the EBS newcomers took place in EBS Tallinn campus for our students both in Estonia and Finland. “Without a hesitation, we had an amazing week full of awesome series of events,” the participants said. 

Captivating speakers, international top experts, and know-how, exchange of brilliant ideas – this August, once again, the world’s brightest minds gathered in the Estonian Business School (EBS) to focus on two of today’s most pressing sectors – digitalisation and sustainability, both of which are enabled by the powerful data revolution of recent years. 

An Estonian start-up company developing the avatar platform Ready Player Me, has received a B-round investment of 56 million dollars, with an aim to become the main avatar systerm in the metaverse. Ready Player Me was launched in 2021 by Timmu Tõke, Haver Järveoja, Kaspar Tiri and Rainer Selvet. Three of them – Timmu, Kaspar and Haver – are alumni of the Estonian Business School. EBS has always been there for us and supported us even in the most difficult times, when no one else was willing to do it, they say.

This year, more than 700 admission applications were submitted to the Estonian Business School, almost 500 of them at the bachelor's and 200 at the master's level. Compared to last year, the amount of high quality applications received to the doctoral studies was especially surprising. 

At the International Chess Olympics in Chennai, India, taking place from July 28 to August 9, Estonia will be presented by a ten-member team, including Sofia Bolokhin, an 11th grade student of EBS High School. In total five female and five male players from Estonia are heading to the Olympics. 

The demands of the new world are constantly changing. Along with this, universities must change to give higher education that can contribute to this world.
