Overview

The programme aims to provide you an in-depth field-specific competencies either in Finance, Marketing, Organisational Development or Technology Governance, balanced with relevant business knowledge and professional skills that the international labour market expects from you in the future. Through blended learning methods and practical approach you will develop your professional skills like critical thinking, problem solving, team-work, creativity being an integral part of the programme. In Finance we have developed part of the content in accordance with the ACCA requirements and in collaboration with CFA Institute to offer you the opportunity to apply for the certificate**. Digital revolution is shaping the organisations and the society as a whole and our role is to understand the opportunities and the scope of change for the businesses in general and for finance, marketing and for organisational development and leadership.

What will you learn

Upon successful completion of the programme the graduate:

  • Possesses general business competencies and specialized knowledge either in organizational development, marketing, finance or technology governance & product development;Is aware of societal challenges, opportunities, limitations and impact of his or her activities on society, and is able to take this into account in complex context.
  • Has a systematic understanding of the main concepts and research methods of business and management.
  • Is able to critically apply a broad, coherent and in-depth knowledge of foundational and contemporary business theories, models, practical principles and processes in various leadership and expert positions in international context.
  • Has an attitude of critical thinking and open to change accompanied by skills to recognize, formulate and find solutions to complex problems and ability to operate under uncertainty or limited resources.
  • Understands the challenges arising from the technological development of society and be able to assess their impact on their company’s or organisation’s activity and the business field.
  • Displays effective written and oral communication skills in a broad set of contexts;Is able to evaluate his or her or others’ need in further education, professional development and has effective skills for independent study.

Student profile:

  • We expect current and future experts, specialists, consultants and leaders in specific competence areas, team leaders to join the programme.
  • Candidates with the Bachelor`s Degree in Business Administration, Economics or Management or equivalent.
  • Candidates with no prior management of business degree are admitted based on their current competencies and work experience. Candidates may need to take a preparatory or supplementary module prior to and/or during the programme if such a prerequisite is set for admission.  

Specializations

Finance and Accounting

Our programme provides the flexibility of general business management with a powerful financial preparation, opening professional opportunities in a wider range of occupations as well as teaching you how to fully manage their own companies. The Finance Major is very specialised and maths intensive module which requires preparation in maths, statistics and elementary corporate finance and investments.

 
The Finance specialisation makes the best out of EBS association with CFA Institute and ACCA Association providing an attractive and powerful reference that assures quality and relevance by itself, and also allows you to proceed to prepare the certifications’ programmes of your choice with much of the work already done. 

 

Upon successful completion of the module the graduate:

  • Define and implement long range financial strategies;

  • Evaluate the whole financial status and forward looking strategies of a corporation;

  • Analyse financial instruments and portfolios;

  • Carry out full accounting and assurance tasks;

  • Take charge of general or departmental management activities with responsibility for financial results and return on invested capital.

Marketing Management

The central idea of the Marketing Management specialisation is to equip you with field-specific marketing competencies and a wide range of marketing topics to be able to act as a leading expert in marketing or as the leader of the marketing team. As we take an integrated marketing communication approach, you will lean and experience media relations, digital and analytical marketing and consumer behaviour in the context of the changing global and digital environment. 
 

Upon successful completion of the module the graduate:

  • Has competencies and practical learning experience to act as an expert or team leader in marketing;
  • Understands and takes into account ethical and legal considerations in a professional way in the context of complex marketing tasks;
  • Obtains, analyses and interprets data in order to make evidence-based decisions in a wide range of complex marketing and business related contexts;
  • Critically applies a wide and thorough knowledge of a variety of foundational and contemporary marketing theories, concepts, and practical principles;
  • Designs and implements both long term and short term marketing strategies and tactical plans;
  • Is able to communicate complex marketing ideas professionally and present marketing solutions in a convincing way in a broad set of personal and group contexts.

Organisational Change and Leadership in Digital Era

The Organisational Change and Leadership specialization module is designed to provide profound knowledge in leadership of organisational change in the era of digital transformation. The specialisation module combines the current theoretical concepts with the analysis of future trends, and creating a general understanding of the main theories in management of organisational change and leadership. It prepares you to manage organisational change and offers skills to implement best leadership practices in modern business organisations.

 

Upon successful completion of the module the graduate:

  • Understands and has a vision of different interpretations of the object and principles of the theories of organisational changes in the following fields: types and process of organisational changes, the readiness of the organisation for changes, organisation and environment interface;
  • Understands post-industrial leadership environment and changes in organisations and knows the main schools and tools of strategic leadership;
  • Knows leadership competencies including creative leadership and transformational leadership techniques that enable to cope with contemporary leadership challenges;
  • Understands the essence of business ethics and ethical leadership, can compare and analyse different theories with implication skills in real business organisations;
  • Understands different cultures and subcultures in global environment;
  • Can effectively communicate as a leader in global business environments and diagnose and find solution strategies for cross-cultural conflicts;
  • Is ready to work in positions that require skills such as analytical thinking, effective change management, ethical decision making, good presentation and negotiation skills, motivating and inspiring people;
  • Is able to state managerial problems and evaluate their connection with the topic of the research.

Important dates
1.

The beginning of the admission period for Finnish candidates. For applying please submit your application at our international student admission platform Dream Apply. Admitted students can start with their studies already on the 14th of January, 2019. 

5.

The application deadline for non-EU candidates for study year 2019/2020 is the 5th of April, 2019. Apply here.

17.

The application deadline for EU candidates and candidates from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, USA, Canada, Japan for study year 2019/2020 is the 17th of June, 2019. 

Fees and Financing Options in Tallinn

For EU citizens

The semester tuition fee for study year 2018/2019 for Estonian and other EU citizens is the following:

  • Paying in one part the semester fee is 2600 €.
  • Paying in two parts the semester fee is 2600 EUR + 35 EUR
  • When the student is a part-time student or would like to transfer some courses from another university and therefore does not need to take the whole programme then the semester fee is being calculated on credit point basis. The fee for one credit point is 95 € .
  • If you are a resident or a holder of a long-term residence permit in the Republic of Estonia you can pay in several instalments by using Study Investment.

Study Investment

For non-EU citizens

The tuition fee for non-EU citizens is the following:

  • Tuition fee for first study year (2 semesters) is 5200 €.
  • Tuition fee can be paid only in one instalment.

Special conditions:

  • International module
    The travel and accommodation costs of international module are not included in the MA programme tuition fee.
  • ACCA and CFA certificates
    To be rewarded an ACCA or CFA certificate you need to take the certificate exams.

Fees and financing options in Helsinki

Tution fees

The semester tuition fee for study year 2018/2019 in Helsinki is the following:

  • Paying in one part the semester fee is 3500 €.
  • The semester fee for 4th semester is 2300 €.

 

  • When the student is a part-time student or would like to transfer some courses from another university and therefore does not need to take the whole programme then the semester fee is being calculated on credit point basis. The fee for one credit point is 130 €.

Scholarships

All the candidates, who have received the positive admission decision, hence acceptance letter from EBS, can apply for a scholarship. In order to apply, you need to write an official application letter to the Scholarship Committee. The mission of the Scholarship Committee is to review and award scholarships.

The Scholarship Committee makes the decision based on the applicants’ previous experience. Suitable candidates have an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent grades and experiences outside the classroom.

 

In the application letter the candidate should mention: 

  • Why do they want to study at EBS and which program did they apply for?
  • How are they planning to use the knowledge they gain here and which goals have they set for themselves?
  • What kind of value will they bring to the classroom and to the studies here?

In EBS, the scholarship gives a discount on the tuition fee. Scholarships are awarded once a year in August. Please send your application via e-mail triin.sillaots@ebs.ee by the 10th of July. 

 

*Finnish students are eligible for various types of financial assistance from Kela during education.

Admission

Admission process

  • Apply through  Dream Apply Student Admission Platform.
    *Non-EU citizens need to pay the application fee (105€) once they have received the invoice through Dream Apply system. Application documents will be processed only after application fee is received.

  • Admission interview via Skype
  • Acceptance
    Once the student has sent all necessary documents for applying, has obtained the required level of English of and has successfully passed the entrance process (incl. interview) the Admission Committee will decide upon the student's admission.

    *If you are a non-EU citizen, apply for temporary residence permit for studies in Estonia. 

  • Tuition fee payment
    After being accepted the student will be issued the tuition fee invoice for one academic year.
  • Signing of the study contract
    When the student has arrived to Estonia and to EBS, then the study contract is signed between the student and university.
