Teachers are on strike, and with good reason, but it's not just about money, or even a lack of it. Mart Habakuk, the Chancellor of EBS, views the strike of educational workers through the prism of an entrepreneur who has been able to manage Estonia's oldest private university sustainably and effectively.

Hira Wajahat Malik, Junior Research Fellow at EBS in the Green Economy & CSR Research Department, wrote in the January issue of Postimees "Tähenduse Teejuhid" about the potential hidden in evolving and changing ecosystems and the business opportunities offered by the collaboration of various companies in this field.

On January 9, 2024, we reached another important milestone on the EBS academic path: EBS Doctoral student Pawan Kumar Dutt successfully defended his Doctoral Thesis titled “Intellectual Property as an Element of the Public Support System for Small and Medium Enterprises”.

On the 8th of January, EBS High School celebrated the arrival of the new year and the start of the academic period with an opening ceremony. The director, Kersti Uudla, greeted the students, saying, "The new year is here, with fresh thoughts, happy expectations, and hopes in our minds. New opportunities and habits await."

January is known as the time for setting new goals. To support future learners in striving towards their goals, EBS has opened admission for the spring semester - in the second half of January, the Estonian-language session study in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration will commence. We are accepting applications until January 15th.

EBS offers two choices for master's studies: an MA and an MBA. The latter is designed for those with a higher education degree in any field and at least three years of experience in process or team management. The One-year MBA is tailored for those who wish to enhance their leadership knowledge within a compact period, elevate their business to a new level, or climb the career ladder in one year.

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of EBS, a speech competition was initiated, in which EBS High School and University students were invited to participate. The competition aimed to find out what the EBS motto "Community for Growth and Responsibility" means to the young members of our community. Winners from both categories presented their speeches at the festive EBS 35 gala held on 7th December at the Estonia Concert Hall.

At its 35th anniversary gala, EBS conferred honorary doctorates on Nobel Prize laureate in economics and professor at MIT Bengt Robert Holmström, and one of Estonia's most successful tech entrepreneurs, Martin Villig.

In celebration of 35th anniversary, we organized a seminar dedicated to strategically important areas for EBS. The seminar "Building The New" addressed current topics such as data and artificial intelligence on one hand, and urbanization and city design on the other. Discussions revolved around how to make physical and digital spaces more sustainable and the impact of urban planning and space design on community development.
